SEATTLE - The Seattle Seawolves are excited to announce the signing of former Osprey, Jeff Hassler.

The Okotoks, Alberta native fell into the sport of rugby in high school at Holy Trinity Academy when he was 16 years old and quickly became a Canada U17 selection. While at the University of Saskatchewan, Hassler played football for the Huskies and still continued to represent Canada at the U20 age-grade level. He broken into the Canada 7s circuit in 2011, where he made 15 appearances through 2013. Hassler’s international success started with the sevens format of the game but quickly switched to fifteens as he got his first senior men’s cap in 2012 and was a member of Canada’s 2015 Rugby World Cup team. An overseas opportunity in 2013 saw Hassler head to Wales to suit up for the Ospreys of Guinness Pro14. In his five years with the professional club, he made 74 appearances and scored 25 tries. After taking a year off from rugby, he is excited to get back on the pitch. Hassler’s physical running style matches the Seawolves attack and his consistent tackle-ability will ensure another strong member of the infamous Seawall.

“From speaking to a number of people within the Seawolves program, players and management both, it is clear that everyone involved is highly dedicated and passionate about the team,” said Hassler. “I am looking forward to being a part of such an exciting program, playing alongside and against many good friends, and being a part of Major League Rugby itself.”
