Bethlehem, South Africa

The 24-year-old Bethlehem native got into the professional pathway in his home country of South Africa with the Northern Free State Griffons U18 side and contributed to their undefeated run during Craven Week. He then moved to Western Province to join their U19 side, where he went on to win the 2014 Currie Cup for their age-grade. Pelser progressed to another academy side with the Golden Lions U21’s and won back-to-back Currie Cup Championships. Pelser made the jump to senior rugby next with the Griquas in 2017, competing in both the Premier Division of the Currie Cup and SuperSport Challenge for two years. In 2019, Pelser and the Griquas won the SuperSport Challenge after 2017 and 2018 final appearances. With strong defensive technique in both the breakdown and tackle contests, Pelser’s height and experience adds another aerialist threat to the Seawolves forward pack.
