Auckland, New Zealand

Roland was born in Pago Pago, American Samoa, but grew up in New Zealand where his strong rugby career began at the legendary Kelston Boys High School. Once graduated, Roland suited up for North Harbour competing in the Mitre 10 Cup from 2005 to 2008. With his US eligibility, an opportunity in the states arose with the sevens program that Roland capitalized on. Suniula quickly made an impact for the USA Eagles that led to an international career comprised of 20 XVs caps, selection to the 2011 XVs Rugby World Cup squad, and 13 World Rugby Sevens Series tournament appearances between 2008 and 2012. After years with the US, the center took to France for an international contract with F.C. Auch Gers for two years and spent another two years with Chalon R.F.C. He is no stranger to Major League Rugby, spending the 2018 season with Austin Elite. Roland joins his younger brother, Shalom, in the Seawolves backline for the 2019 season with his extensive rugby resume, leadership skills, and dynamic ability in the center positions
